Residents of Kano State have called for the prosecution of security guards who have been mistreating women in the state, particularly during the distribution of charity meat.

Abuse by Security Personnel During Meat Distribution in Kano

"A Mira Security Guard used a strong whip to beat women regardless of their age or whether they were carrying children on their backs. Even if they fell to the ground, he continued to beat them, accusing them of waiting for charity meat. We call on the Civil Defence Corps, which is responsible for registering, training, and overseeing these guards, to locate this individual and his company for punishment."

"Private security personnel (bouncers) are among those who act without proper conduct. They disregard respect and treat people harshly, handling them like laundry and tossing them aside. It is essential to reform their behavior before they cause more harm. They should be reminded that they are operating in a Muslim community where women are highly valued," said some residents who witnessed the incident.

The call from Kano residents to hold these security guards accountable is crucial to protecting the dignity of women and ensuring security and justice in the community. This action will help put an end to such mistreatment and abuse that women face during the distribution of charity meat and other instances. Authorities must take decisive measures to safeguard the well-being of women and ensure they are treated with the respect and honor that Islam dictates.
